Tomorrow's the big day!

Tomorrow Zac receives his first communion at church.  We are very excited, but I think he's a little more excited as he's been counting down the days now.

Today we had rehearsal and learned Zac will be the gift bearer.  Danielle is going to be an altar server and cantoring!  We'll see how it all pulls together.

As I sat through his rehearsal today, realizing that this will be the last child I have doing this, I couldn't help but remember Danielle's first communion. (Her banner was 2nd down on the right).

The boy and the magical goose!

Zac had baseball practice today and I think he is pretty excited that it is not supposed to rain tomorrow for his game.   I took some test shots for tomorrow's game and also revisited the pond from the other day.  A found this little goose having a grand time bathing.  I need to check my settings though as he looks like he is glowing.  I also got another sparrow.   The sparrows at this pond must think I'm carrying bird seed!  They get so close it's amazing!  The last dude is a Great Tailed Grackle!  (Sounds evil and you should hear his evil cackle!  YIKES!)

 

 

It's definitely spring!

I went out at lunch to pick up trash bags (of all things!) and had to drive by Rhema Bible College.  Every Christmas they put up over a million lights (I think literally!) and we always like to go by and look.  While we are there, we always take a walk around a little pond.  When I drove by, there were birds and ducks and geese everywhere!

So after picking up said trash bags, I drove back around and parked and made some new little friends!

Redbud Valley Revisited

This morning we took another tour of Redbud Valley with some of our friends and their kids.  Muddy!  We ended up chucking our shoes in the trunk, but the walk was fun and the temperature was awesome!

Never Let Me Go

Just finished a really interesting book by Japanese-born British author Kazuo Ishiguro called "Never Let Me Go."

It's a story about some kids at a school called Hailsham and their journey into life after school.  Only thing is that these kids are special...no reference to parents or relatives or siblings.  Why are their last names only letters?  Hmmmm.

Their Guardians teach them and care for them, but what are they not teaching them?

It is a fascinating read and offers some disturbing, thought-provoking forays into the medical community.

Definitely a must-read!

It's been made into a movie and I can't wait to watch the DVD!
